THE BAND
Cowboy Lunchbox formed as a band through longtime friend and family relationships. Paul Baranich (Guitar, Vocals) and Stan Townsend (Pedal Steel, Guitar) have played together for several years. They originally met as hazardous waste professionals with the State of California and Los Angeles County respectively, and played together under the name The Dukes of Hazzardous Waste. Paul and David Zableckis (Guitar, Vocals) met as scout leaders in their sons' Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop. They played together frequently on camping trips around roaring fires, often playing until the campfire was reduced to glowing embers. Later, they performed in various clubs under the name "The Folk Ups" until adding Stan and rebranding as the newly formed "Dukes Of Hazzardous Waste". As it became clear that a full band was forming, the "Dukes" looked to Cory Ryken (Drums, Keyboards, Vocals) as well as Sheldon Riddles (Bass, Drums, Guitar, Vocals) to fill out the group. Cory and David have known each other the longest, as they are cousins. Although they played music together occasionally throughout their lives, Cowboy Lunchbox is the first group that they have been in together. Cory had worked in the past with Sheldon. Bringing Cory and Sheldon into the band completed the group and we launched into performances as Cowboy Lunchbox. The five-piece quickly built a setlist of Country Rock, Classic Rock, Country and Folk-Rock numbers that highlight each of our four vocalists and make use of our versatile lineup. The name Cowboy Lunchbox was picked to reflect the sounds of the range. Singing with good friends around a desert campfire - the camaraderie of five musicians who love to play together - and the joy we work to bring to our listening audience.
